Survey-Project-Requirements

For your math survey project, you will be graphing the results to a question that is on the survey. The results will be graphed in two different ways.

  • One of the ways will be a straight percentage pie chart. We want to know what percentage of middle schoolers answered in each way.
  • The other way will be in a scatter plot or bar graph that separates the answers by location or by gender. We want to know whether the answers were different depending on where the student was from or whether the answer was different depending on whether a boy or girl answered.

Day 1 - Monday, October 26

Brainstorm information that will lead to a description of the "typical middle schooler". Decide how to phrase the question to get good, informative data

Day 2 - Wednesday, October 28

  • Form groups of 2 or 3.
  • Decide which of your questions would give the best information to decide what a "typical middle schooler" is like. Choose two, just in case there are repeats from class to class or group to group. Put your questions here (on this page!)
  • Decide how the classes will collect data. Remember that there are classes potentially in other states or countries that might provide data.
  • Provide your group's questions (with answer categories or scales if appropriate) on this wiki by tomorrow (Thursday, October 29)
